Hello and welcome back!!! I hope you’re doing great and I’m so happy to see you again <3 Let’s get going!!! As many of you may know, I’ve been working as a flight attendant for more than 3 years now and I’ve come across different hacks that will help you look amazing throughout your flights.
It really doesn’t matter if you’re a passenger, a cabin crew or a pilot, we all want to look presentable on a plane, right? And we also want to keep our skin healthy AFTER the flight. Cool, guess we’re on the same page then, here’s some tips so you can achieve this!
- Always mosturize properly before the flight
Not many people know but the air inside an aircraft is drier than most deserts so you really wanna keep your skin moisturized. For this reason, I recommend you use a good cream and a good serum before you board. Also please remember to drink a lot of water, I know it’s uncomfortable to leave your seat or jumpseat and go to the toilet all the time but it’s crucial for your skincare that you drink at least 1 to 1,5 litres of water per flight. Also please avoid alcoholic beverages!!!! (wine is okay tho, haha)
2. Find a good spray to refresh your face
I’ve heard people saying that any skincare applied on board is bad to your skin because the air in the aircraft is recycled and you will just trap the bacteria in. Listen up, if the air was 100% recycled you wouldn’t make it in a 2 hour flight because oxygen would vanish. The air in the aircraft is a mix of recycled air with outside air and now you might come at me with: “oh but the outside temperature is -50º, how do you explain that?”. Here’s the deal, Karen:
Obviously, we would have a lot of trouble breathing with this air temperature. That’s why the bleed air is made: the outside air, which at the altitude we are talking about is completely pure, is compressed and heated thanks to the action of the motors until it is between 24ºC and 26ºC. The high temperatures of the propellants kill any viruses that might exist. This action is carried out through a compressor, so in no case that air is contaminated by the combustion of the engine. (I got this from race.es if you’re wondering).
So as I said, there is no way the bacteria will be trapped in your skin and you will breakout from using a refreshing spray on your skin. I really recommend the Hyaluronic Acid Molecular Spray by Collistar.
3. If you wear makeup, keep an eye on oils
It’s not an easy atmosphere and your skin may produce more oil than usual, specially considering that you pre-moisturized more than you’re used to. Keep a good matte powder close to you and a small sponge or brush so you can retouch whatever it is that shines out.
4. Keep a lip balm by your side at all times
Lips are the victims on board, really. There is nothing as dry as your lips when you’re inside a plane, so regardless of your gender and if you wear make up or not, I really suggest you get a good lip balm. I tried a few of them already so I can recommend 100%: Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask and also Rituals Rescue Balm.
5. Handcare is also key
Your hands suffer a lot, generally, they are exposed to many agents that can dry them up, that’s why a hand cream should always be present in your purse. I’m sure you have some at home because it’s a very recurrent loyalty present in pharmacies and drugstores. I don’t have a recommendation for this one because there is really a whole world of good hand creams that you can choose from.
6. Keep up the maintenance after the flight as well
I love using Korean sheet masks after my flights, I try to always buy the ones that I know are good for me and I will highlight the brand Missha. I buy them in Müller when I’m in Germany but I’ve already seen them on Amazon Spain and Miniso in India. You don’t have to stick to this brand though, I’m just talking about the one that works for me but you have hundreds to go to.
And that’s it for today my precious little Tangs, I hope you enjoyed and that I could help you stay prettier while on board. Please remember to always take care of yourselves when you travel, eat properly and drink a lot of water. It’s not only about looking pretty, it’s also about being healthy. Thank you once again and I will see you soon in my next post!!!
