Hellooo once again, life has been very busy my little Tangs but I’m back here with more energy than ever to let you know everything you need for your closet to be cute, functional and inexpensive.
First of all, you all know how you need enough basics and all that, we talked about it a few posts ago in the Winter staples. The thing now is that an outfit is not only consistent of clothing, but also accessories, and that’s why I’m here today exposing to you the truth about the right accessories and how to select the pieces you want.
Before you even start buying…
There’s a choice to be made and it’s if you’re a gold or a silver. I honestly think I’m a gold girl because it looks better with most of my outfits but that’s completely up to you, your preferences and your own style. I have a tip if you really cannot decide, though, mama Crislus is here for you:
Colours that go with gold: charcoal gray, burgundy, olive green, violet, tan, teal, navy blue, pink, emerald, brown, ivory, dusty rose, lavender, burnt orange, white, black, red, etc.
Colours that go with silver: black, purple, green, navy blue, white, red, turquoise, burgundy, orange, medium blue, sea green, cherry red, emerald green, etc.
As you can see, many colours can be used with both but there are certain combinations that will stand out more, like ivory with gold, opposed to ivory with silver that will not have much contrast. You can check in your closet and choose your metal based on the colours that you used the most and based on this info I just gave you. If you don’t see your colours here, just keep in mind that gold works amazing with warm tones and silver is better for cold tones.
Now that you know this…
Let’s get down to business, I’m assuming you don’t have any accessories at all in your closet while writing, but if you already have what I’m saying here, then it’s less work for you. You should have a jewelry set in either gold or silver that is thin and subtle (we are talking about staples, basics, there will be time to buy a thicc golden chain later). If you’re a fan of real metals then you can get it in a jewelry store, it should consist on:
- a thin chain
- a couple bracelets
- a ring or two (if you like them)
- a couple earrings that you can interchange
If you don’t want to pay that much or you’re not too into real jewels, then you can find good options on Shein or Aliexpress.
Belts
Belts are something you either use or you don’t, as far as I’ve seen. Belts can be useful if your pants keep falling or they can be decorative (I drool every time I see those beautiful golden Moroccan belts omg). I don’t own many but you should have at least:
- One plain belt, black or brown depending on your style, with gold or silver hardware depending on your jewelry choice.
- One metal belt (can be a chain) for when you feel more fancy, also based on your jewelry tone.
- One kimono belt, preferably black or white, depending on your clothes, you would be surprised how many outfits can be saved with one of those.
Sunglasses
Look, forget everything media tells you, you shouldn’t have 23 pairs of sunglasses to be fashionable, my recommendation is that you buy a good quality pair that has an atemporal look and that will last you years. And, of course, that you take care of them. To choose sunglasses, please keep in mind:
- They should match your face structure, if you go to a nice store they will help you choose the right size and shape.
- The kind of lenses that you choose is important because certain ones are trends, while some others are atemporal.
- The colour of the structure, as well as the hardware (metal), should match your closet and your features (hair, skin colour, etc).
Gloves, scarves, hats
The nice winter stuff, not much to say. just like belts, you should check your closet’s main colours and decide based on what you own, not forgetting your phenotype. For me, for example, because I wear a lot of black, I chose as well black gloves and scarves, together with a black fluffy hat. Does this mean you can only own one? No, this just means your basic should be matching what you already have.
Handbags
Just as easy as I’ve been explaining until now, check your colours, check your hardware and buy your bag. For example, if you love dressing in white and you love silver, then get a white bag with silver hardware. Easy. There is something I would like to bring to your attention, though, and it’s that an outfit looks SUPER well put together if the bag fits the shoes. It’s very pleasant for the eye and it gives a sense of integrity on the look.
I really really really hope you enjoyed and that I could help you build your dream closet little by little, it’s been a while since I’m writing this blog and I love it with all my heart, every day I try to get better and write more interesting things for you guys. I look forward to seeing you in my next post and I wish you a very happy December <3 Kisses!!!!!!!
