Many young people today spend a lot of time on social media, but they do not post anything. This happens especially with the generations born from 2002 and 2003 onwards that are present on social media. They open the apps every day, they watch videos, they follow creators and they enjoy seeing trends. However, they do not feel comfortable sharing their own life. They prefer to stay quiet and only look from the outside.
One important reason is fear of judgement. Many young people think their photos or videos are not good enough. They imagine others laughing at them or making negative comments. They feel strong pressure to be perfect. This pressure makes posting feel dangerous, so they choose not to do it.
Another reason is comparison. When they see professional photos or very edited videos they start to feel small. They think their normal day is boring. They think their clothes or their room or their body is not interesting enough. This creates insecurity and makes them stay silent.
This behaviour also affects fashion. Many young people do not want to stand out. They prefer to blend in because they feel safer that way. As a result, the style of this generation has changed a lot. Clothes are more baggy and loose. Many pieces are unisex. Most young people dress in similar colours and similar fits. They use big hoodies wide jeans and comfortable sneakers. It is simple and easy but it also shows a fear of being different.
Fashion becomes a shield. When everyone looks the same nobody receives extra attention. For these young people fitting in feels more important than expressing personal style. They worry that a bold outfit will attract comments or looks. Wearing the same clothes as everyone else feels like a safe option. It reduces the chance of judgement and gives a feeling of protection.
This shows how social media shapes the way young people think about themselves. They want to be online, but they want to avoid criticism. They want to dress well, but they want to avoid attention. Maybe with time they will feel more free to post and to wear clothes that express their personality. For now many young people prefer to move quietly both on social media and in the way they dress.
I hope this little article made you reconsider how fashion is influencing you or the people around you and I kindly ask you to reflect on this highly important matter. Kisses!!!!!
